About Us

The Roots of Rhonemus Cellars

Our story began decades ago. We were high school sweethearts and after 27 years without communicating, reconnected 16 years ago. Married now for eight years, we have returned home to Central Ohio. Rhonemus Cellars is a dream that grew out of our trips to Monticello Valley, VA and Napa Valley, CA. Inspired by the beauty of the vineyards and wineries, we wanted to bring this experience home to Ohio for our community to enjoy.

The unexpected opportunity to reinvigorate The View Golf Club set our dream in motion. Located in our hometown, Lancaster, Ohio, it’s here that we grew up spending our summers golfing, swimming, and spending time with family. Rounds of golf with Dad, swim club competitions, and endless smiles are some of our fondest memories with family and friends.

The club has always had a special place in our hearts, and our dream was to ensure it continued to serve the community for generations to come. Rhonemus Cellars is a destination winery built on the grounds of The View Golf Club. Fusing the experiences of wine, food, and golf on one campus offers a social hub for recreation, relaxation, and community connection.

The working winery is the foundation of our stunning, eight-thousand-square-foot contemporary visitor center. Above the winery is a restaurant, bar, lounge, and tasting room designed to unite people and place. Open year-round, the venue is situated to provide stunning views of the estate vineyard and golf course, bringing the outside in. The Conservatory, an all-glass solarium, provides a bright space to enjoy a glass of wine and good company any time of year — an especially welcome escape throughout the winter months. Thoughtful outdoor spaces for groups large and small were built to take advantage of both warm summer evenings as well as the cooler fall nights where you can gather around the fire.

We offer hand-crafted wines that showcase exceptional appellations and winemaking. Our estate vineyard is planted with unique offerings including white varietals Chardonel and Aromella and red varietals Arandell and Noiret. While challenging to grow, we chose to plant these for their quality and exceptional characteristics. Our head winemaker, the talented Nico Felice, crafts our wines with fruit from the Rhonemus Cellars estate vineyard and from Finger Lakes, NY.

Family, Faith, and Legacy

Rhonemus Cellars is the culmination of our life experience, family, and strong faith. Love and family brought us back to Lancaster and to The View. We grew up here, this is our home, our community. We lead with love, joy, and exceptional hospitality. We feel blessed to have created a place where family, friends, and visitors can gather — a special place where memories are made, and traditions are built to live on for generations.

Kenzie Salyers

Kenzie was born and raised in rural southern Ohio. She grew up in an area surrounded by fields of corn and soybean and at a very young age had a great appreciation for farming. She got her start at a local winery and knew from the moment she touched her first vine, this was it.

She turned her passion into a career with lots of studying and experience, with the help of Dr. Maria Smith from OSU. Kenzie’s enthusiasm for viticulture has lead her to help small independent vineyards get their start throughout Ohio.
